The advert described the property accurately and it was both very clean and well-maintained. It is also extremely well-located in a wonderful region of France with lovely countryside, beaches, towns, villages and attractions close at hand. The owners themselves were an absolute delight and went more than the extra mile to help in every way possible. THE HARBOUR OF MORTAGNE SUR GIRONDE.....
Is only a 3 minute walk from the Villa. Arranged around the old fashioned marina are various restaurants, bars and cafes, all with waterfront seating, where you could grab a seafood platter or a crepe with salted caramel and a bottle of Pineau, the local aperitif made from the vines at the top of the hill, where you will find a baker, butcher and general food store, and post office.You are only a 15 minute drive to the nearest beach, with mile-long fine white sand at St Georges de Didonne, and easy parking. In summer you can hire a jet ski, sunbathe in style or watch the windsurfers and myriads of coloured sailing dingys, buzzing around the bay.

In the port there are quaint little cabins open in summer, walking distance from the villa, selling wine, seafood, french takeaway food, plenty of bars and restaurants, a newly opened antique and vintage showroom and shop. There is a horse riding stables, a wine producer, further shops, a post office and a friendly tourist office. You can fish in the estuary, play golf in nearby Royan.
